When we learnt that a daytrip to the Mosel (or Moselle) Valley would cost actually the same as a trip to London on our wedding anniversary, we booked tickets for the first and last flights between Stansted and Hahn. Planned to visit the beautiful Eltz castle which is unfortunately closed during the winter but it is still a nice place to visit all around the year. Fortunately, on our way to Moselkern we managed to visit another castle, Reichsburg above the lovely town Cochem which opened its gates for tourists for a few hours. It was a lovely day, finished with a perfect slice of Schnitzel in a friendly and cheerful Schnitzelhaus. Omnomnom!
