Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura

After a wonderful time on Lanzarote, we crossed the waters to see a little bit of Fuerteventura. We were not too happy to leave volcano heaven as we really, really fell in love with simply everything in there – the volcanoes, the pastries, the lovely beaches and snorkelling… Arriving at Corralejo was a huge disappointment. Although the dunes outside the very touristy town were interesting and a spectacular view indeed, I couldn’t really appreciate the highly worn industrial buildings and unfinished, abandoned hotels which we were passing by. I was just sitting in the car like a stubborn child and I was pretty grumpy – now I realize that the bad news I got from home that morning weren’t helpful either. But thanks to my fantastic sister who comforted me on the phone, we decided to stay and try to enjoy this island which was not too impressive at first sight. Well, the same happened to us as at our previous destination, after driving away the popular party and industrial areas (which is completely understandable to be there, I don’t blame you Fuerteventura, just carry on reading 😉 ) we finally discovered the true beauty that is well hidden from those who make their way straight to the party-lands and miss out on the best and most jaw-dropping things this place offers! While Lanzarote gives you a feeling of a retro-futuristic wonderland, Fuerte is taking you to an alternative universe of a wild, wild west on the Moon. 🙂 And when you want a break between two exciting scenes, you just head to one of the pastel toned beaches and enjoy paradise. If you dare, bare naked!

I am looking forward to returning for more hikes and possibly rides.
